Allergies... ugh!

A few weeks ago we exposed Mikey and Kayla to walnuts (at the ok of our doc).  All seemed fine until Mikey's face started to turn all blotchy and red.  I quickly cleaned him and his high chair up.  Approximately 30 min later his face started to clear up.  By bedtime he was fine.  I called the doc in the am and was referred to an allergist to rule out any nut allergies.

On Dec 6th we went to see the allergist.  He performed a scratch test and ordered blood work.  He told us to stay away from all nuts until we follow up with him in a week.

Dec 17th was our follow up visit.  He informed me the scratch test reveled no allergies but the blood test showed a class 1 reaction to peanuts.  The blood work showed no signs a tree nut allergy, dog or cat allergy, dust or mites allergy, and no soy or egg allergy. The allergist informed me a class 1 allergy most likely wont show any signs or symptoms and was nothing to worry about.  But to be on the safe side since the kiddos can talk to stay away from all nuts until they are about 2.  We were given an epi pen jr script and told to come back in 6mo for a follow up and a possible in office test of nuts.

Thank God so far so good! Nut allergies scare me.  Everything seems to have nuts in it.  During the week between the initial visit and the follow up my brain spun these crazy scenario where Mikey was 5 or 6 and in school and some stupid kid gave him nuts and he got sick. ugh!!!! I'm thankful to know at least at this time he is showing no signs of nut issues.

Whew... dodged that bullet! This parenting stuff is stressful!
