Horse Expo!

I meant to post this last week but things have gotten crazy around here and i forgot until just now. 

Last week the Horse World Expo came to our area.  For those of you that know me know my love for horses and how i hope to get back into it again soon.  Well... i am sooo excited to announce that i think Kayla takes after her mommy!  If you remember on my old blog, i posted last summer about how we went to Ms. Terri's house and played with her horse.  If you remember Kayla was all smiles around the horseys YEAH!   

When we got the flyer in the mail Mike and i said what the heck lets try and bring the kids and hope for the best.  That morning we debated not going bc of the weather.  It was COLD!!! But everyone got bundled up and diaper bag was packed accordingly.  Mike and i sighed a big sigh of relief when the rugrats took a 30 min nap on the way to the Expo.  We were convinced they wouldn't nap and we would have our hands full. 

Mike was kind enough given the weather to convince the parking guys to let us pull up to the door so he could drop me and the kids off... so no running in the cold for us YEAH!!  When we got in the first thing we were greeted with was the arena where the "Parade of Stallions" was going on.  I knew it would be a few minutes before Mike got back from parking the car so i pulled the stroller up to the rail and took a seat.  At first the Stallion stayed near the back half of the arena and the kids couldn't see him.  But after a few minutes of trying to get their attention towards the stallion he finally made his way to our end of the arena.  It was LOVE at first sight for Kayla!!! She was entranced by the horse walking along the rail.

Then daddy showed up and we decided to start off at the back of the expo where all the stalls for the horses were.  I was nervous to take the stroller back there.  Having had 3 horses myself i know how strollers can FREAK a horse out.  But when I looked down the isle it was filled with strollers and running kids sooo why not be one of those people i hated at shows hahaha!!! Both kids were in awe of the large dogs haha (otherwise known as horses).  I was too chicken to let them pet any of the horses bc well im an over protective mother.. and i dont know those horses!

Then it was off to the booths!!!!! I swear the pure activity and constant scene changes kept the kids occupied!! It was amazing not a peep out of the the entire time.  It was funny bc people ooohhhed and ahhhed over them and we were stopped by more booth people asking about them than the ones trying to sell us something. We made our way to the horse trailer section and decided this looked like a great place to let the kids loose.  Kayla was the first out, when she saw the sales man she made a bee line straight for him.  What a flirt she is! I'm bringing her if i ever need to buy a trailer hahaaha.  She had that guy wrapped around her little finger in seconds!  Then i thought i would show her some trailers.  It was so fun once inside the trailer it was like her own little imaginary play world.  She was running all around and being cute for the sales guy.  Finally Mikey and daddy showed up and joined in the fun.  After exploring a number of trailers and burning off some energy is was back into the stroller and off to eat. 

 We made our way to the VERY expensive food area.  Mike and i each had a hot dogs and some fries.  But the kids had a healthy snack from home of cheese, crackers and oranges.  They did steal a few of our fries.  Then it was back to the other building of booths we had yet to explore.  This area was less than exciting but the kids got to watch more horses go around another arena so it was worth it. 

It was approaching our after noon nap time so back to the car we went.  Mike and i were so proud of the kids for being so great.  On the way home we stopped at an Amish Market for one last short exploration before nap time.  But they were fading and we didn't want to end the day on a sour note. 

We had such a nice day as a family and i cant wait to take the kids back as they get older.
